Free pre-alpha
Herma could not connect to Patreon, so here is the free pre-alpha: everything in Herma works, and games play for 25 minutes a day. It is downloading; if it has not started, press the button.
Already a member? Once Patreon answers, press Connect Patreon in Herma and the limit goes away by itself — or try Patreon again here. The free version checks today's date with this site when a game starts, so it needs the internet then.
For macOS 14 or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). The link works for an hour; after that, press Download on this site again.
Opening it the first time
Herma is not in the App Store and has not been checked by Apple, so your Mac asks you to confirm it the first time you open it. It takes half a minute, once for each new version:
- Open the downloaded file and drag Herma onto Applications.
- Open Herma from Applications. Your Mac says it could not verify Herma: press Done. (Not “Move to Bin”; if you did, download it again.)
- Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and scroll down to “Herma was blocked”. Press Open Anyway and enter your Mac's password.
- Press Open Anyway once more. Herma opens and sets itself up.
On macOS 14 there is a shortcut: Control-click Herma in Applications, choose Open, then Open again.
Then
Open Herma and start a game: 25 minutes of play a day, counted while a game runs. Subscription in Herma shows how many are left today.
